Academic challenges. Post 3A
Hello! Today i’m going to talk about academic challenges for
this 2020. I study musical interpretation here in the faculty…this university
follows a traditional way of teaching which is influenced by the occidental
music mostly, you have to study pieces from European composers of the XVIII and
XIX century the majority of the time, and learn about occidental music history.
I think that it has to change, we have to learn more about latinoamerican
music, and contemporary ways of playing…because the current ways of composing music
are related with new techniques. Also, the career has a “ghost year” (5th
year), you only have 3 subjects: Principal instrument, chamber music and “professional
practice” wich doesn’t exists (you only have to do a portfolio) and you have to
pay like a normal year, they say that you are preparing your final concert but
its not justified with the money. You also have subjects that don’t work so
well, where the teachers don’t do their work (that is a problem related with
being a public employee, so the summarys are hardly done because they spend a
lot of money).
This faculty is the poorest of the entire university. We
study music and we don’t have good and pitched pianos (which are really really
important in a formation of a musician) or an accompanist neither, in other
conservatories you have the possibility to have rehearsals with your
accompanist once a week, to have a better result of the music that you are
studying. But that problem is the smaller one in comparison with other serious
problems: the faculty doesn’t pay the employee’s salaries in MONTHS, we have
teachers with denounces of sexual abuse, once, the ceiling of the Elefante hall
fell down, and more and more, and…the English computers are the most technological
thing in this building!. If I talk about
the deficiencies of this faculty I think I’ll never finish!

I agree, almost everything must change, it have a lot of deficiencies in every career, so i empathise with you I know what it feels like.
